Choices offers a fifteen-week substance abuse outpatient counseling program comprised of at least two individual sessions and at least thirteen group therapy sessions. The client attends on Wednesday evenings for group counseling (from 6:30 to 8:00), and will schedule their individual sessions with the therapist as needed. Our Director of Outpatient Services, Terry Janzen, LSCSW, LCAC has been a licensed therapist for over thirty years, has a wonderfully open and respectful attitude toward all clients, and works to develop the personal potential of each individual as they move forward in their lives free from the negative consequences of substance abuse and dependency.
Topics covered in treatment include, for example:
* Gaining a deeper understanding of the motivation of one's substance use
* Examining the personal costs/consequences of chemical intake
* Increasing healthy coping skills, stress management tools, and relaxation methods
* Developing stronger and more positive social support networks
* Strengthening communication skills
* Understanding the role of family dynamics where it pertains to chemical abuse/abuse and dependency
* Increasing one's understanding of the physiological and psychological affects of substance abuse

Our staff will respectfully comply with authorized requests for communicating the participant's progress (such as to the probation officer, for example), upon the direction of the individual, and will work with each participant to meet their personal needs however possible.
We ask that an individual interested in our program call the Olathe office during business hours to schedule an orientation meeting to begin the process of admittance. At that time we will gather the needed permissions for communication, schedule a first individual session, and provide the client with a packet of paperwork to complete prior to their first individual counseling session. A $70 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of the counseling program orientation; this is part of the total cost, not an additional fee. Choices accepts debit and credit forms of payment, as well as cash and money order.
The all-inclusive cost of the fifteen-week program is $595 if the client chooses "pay-as-you-go" (the $70 deposit, then $35 per week), or can be reduced to $550 if the individual opts to pay in full within the first two weeks of their attendance.
We welcome your call, at (913) 390-0100, should you have further questions or concerns.
